Healthier Environment: Benefits Of Waterproofing Your Home

Waterproofing may be expensive, but homeowners would eventually find out that quality waterproofing could save them money in the long run. Here are the advantages in waterproofing your home:

Eliminate the growth of insects like water bugs, cockroaches, beetles, and termites that find heaven in damp areas. These insects could cause damage not only to the foundation but also to important things stored in the room.

You will feel more at ease about leaving your home for vacation, without worrying that heavy rains might flood your basement.

Humidity and moisture is what molds and mildew want. Mold and mildew could cause respiratory problems like asthma and also trigger allergic reactions. By reducing humidity, preventing condensation and water seepage, mold and mildew growth could be decreased.

Walls not properly waterproofed will give in hydrostatic pressure creating cracks and leaks on walls and floors. With excellent waterproofing it could give you a safer foundation.

Methods For Water Proofing Your Home

Waterproofing your home is very important. Water infiltration of any sort can lead to major problems such as mold, insect infestations, rotted wood, damaged masonry, or in extreme cases, even building failures.

The most common causes of water infiltration are poor drainage around your home, clogged splash blocks and underground drains, or even a leaky hose bib. Detecting water leaks can be very tricky but if you take a logical and methodical approach most homeowners should be able to detect their own leaks. Here are some methods to waterproof your home.

Roof and Gutters

Inspect roof for obvious signs of damage or missing pieces. Also make sure your gutters are not bent down in the middle and they flow properly.

Down Spouts and Splash Blocks
Inspect all downspouts to make sure they are attached to the gutters properly and are connected to your house. Also confirm that any elbows, bends, or connections are properly attached and clear of debris. Make sure your splash blocks (the concrete or plastic blocks at the bottom of your downspouts) are in place and sloping away from your house.

Grading and Drainage

All dirt, mulch, grass, side walks, patios or whatever surrounds your house must slope away from the house and continue sloping for at least 8 feet. Make sure all splash blocks and downspouts slope with the grade.

What Green Building Means to Us?

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD), also known as the Rio Earth Summit or Rio+20, in Brazil on 20-22 June 2012 will mark the 20th anniversary of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), and the 10th anniversary of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD). The Summit represents another milestone in ongoing international efforts to accelerate progress towards achieving sustainable development globally and aims to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, assess the progress to date and address new and emerging challenges.

For SEA Olympus Marketing Inc., GREEN BUILDING means using saving energy products.
To celebrate this milestone, the Philippine Green Building Councils, together with the Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines (SWAPP), United Architects of the Philippines – Manila Corinthian Chapter (UAP-MCC) and the Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI) are inviting different industries to tell our counterparts on what green building means to us.

Why use ECOSPR? Features and Benefits of Polyurethane Coatings

ECOSPR Hybrid Polyurethane Elastomer are produced by reacting MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) with a Polyol.

Polyurethane coatings and linings are more commonly applied over concrete and steel for corrosion protection and abrasion resistance. Polyurethanes are also widespread in construction applications, such as floor coatings, roofing, wood deck and pipeline coatings. This type coating has tremendous advantages over conventional materials for joint fill and caulk applications due to their fast set nature, high elongation and abrasion characteristics. Below are the features and benefits of ECOSPR Hybrid Polyurethane Elastomer.

Adhesion
ECOSPR displays excellent adhesive to many types of substrates including steel, aluminum, concrete and various polymeric surfaces.

Thermal Resistance
ECOSPR retains its elasticity at -40C° to 110C° , enabling them to withstand various climatic conditions.

Abrasion Resistance
Surfaces coated with ECOSPR are exceptionally resistance to abrasion and
strong friction.

Chemical Resistance
ECOSPR is highly resistant to carbonic acids, caustic solutions, aliphatic solutions, aliphatic hydrocarbons and mineral oils.

Sound Insulation
Absorbs vibration generated equipments.

Weather Resistance
Demonstrate good weathering resistance to ozone and UV radiation.

Sealing Cracks
ECOSPR helps to Seal Cracks and prevent the penetration and attack of harsh substance.

Water Vapor and Gas Permeability
Repel liquid, they also offer a high degree of permeability to water vapor, which helps prevent moisture build-up in the substrate.

Resistance to Hydrolysis and Microbial Attack
Effectively resist hydrolysis protect surface against microbial attack and penetration.

Water Resistance
When properly applied, it forms a homogenous, seamless and watertight seal with no stress points.

Tear Propagation Resistance
Demonstrate excellent resistance to tear propagation and mechanical stresses.
